bobo&boo engaged Jagged Edge Communications to assist with SEO copywriting services in June 2015 when their online shopfront was being designed. And the results bobo&boo has achieved since then have been pretty incredible!
They’ve shot up to page one of Google – and that’s happened organically; not requiring any expensive Google AdWord advertising. They’ve gone from an online shopfront to having stockists all around Australia, just recently taking on their first stockist in New Zealand and in October will be launching throughout Europe. Meanwhile, their range has grown from bamboo dinnerware sets available in four colours, to seven colours (and growing), new products and packages.
Needless to say, it’s been a very exciting time!
“We see lots of amazing products and services in this line of work,” Kirsty Jagger, principal consultant at Jagged Edge Communications, said. “But what leads to success and growth like bobo&boo has experienced over this short period of time, is believing in your product or service enough to make an investment (of time and/or money) in ensuring its visibility to the market.”
“After all, if you don’t believe in your product or service enough to invest in delivering it to your target audience, why should they spend money on it? How will they even know to? That kind of mentality is where a lot of small businesses come unstuck. Yes, it’s a cliché but it’s true – sometimes you need to spend money to make money,” Kirsty continued.
“And living in the ‘just Google it’ era, being found is dependent on being search engine compatible– so if you’re not an SEO copywriting expert, it’s time to hire one!”
Now search engine optimisation (SEO) doesn’t happen overnight – depending on competition it can take 90+ days to just start seeing results, and ‘results’ doesn’t necessarily mean page one placements. The success of the SEO is dependent on a few things:
- Competitors – bobo&boo had two strongly performing competitors, overcome by …
- SEO friendly website design – supplied, in this case, by tibbyweb.com.
- Great SEO content – supplied, in this case, by Jagged Edge Communications.
But by November, bobo&boo Naomi Rogers was starting to see return on investment.
“Sales are going great leading up to Christmas,” Naomi emailed Kirsty. “I am keen to stay on top of Google as I seem to be getting quite a few sales from it. So I would love your help with blogs.”
Before we go much further, we’ll just quickly explain how blogging helps…
You’ve probably heard that ‘content is king’ when it comes to SEO – and that’s true, but not in that every page needs to be thesis length (300-500 words is best). It would probably be more accurate to say ‘fresh content is king’. And since you can only update your About page so many times, blogging is the answer.
The more frequently you update your website, the more frequently search engines will stop by to crawl and index your pages. Every time you write a blog post, it’s one more indexed page on your website; thus one more opportunity for you to show up in search engines and drive traffic to your website in organic search.
Also, more recent posts are given more authority on search engines because recent information is likely to be more relevant to the user than something written three years ago, for example.
“As a small business, it’s hard to find the time to create or the money to commission weekly blogs,” Kirsty acknowledged. “That’s why Jagged Edge Communications recommends a monthly blog, and frequent social media posts to keep that flow of fresh content happening; supporting your organic search engine rankings.”
So, Jagged Edge Communications spent the next six months supporting bobo&boo through the provision of monthly blogs, while Naomi became an absolute gun at social media.
These blogs included:
- bobo&boo’s best picnic tips
- Why BPA isn’t safe either
- Top three tips for reducing plastics in your everyday lives
- Keep Australia Beautiful with bobo&boo
- How to gently encourage plastic-free gift giving
- How to be a plastic-free gift giver
Happy with how things were going, Naomi very kindly provided the following testimonial for the Jagged Edge Communications website: Kirsty from Jagged Edge Communications has been so helpful and amazing to deal with. I have gone from not being able to find myself on Google to now being on page one just using the amazing SEO content she provided me with. I was looking at a SEO firm before contacting Kirsty and she has saved me thousands of dollars! Would recommend her to everyone! I am a happy customer.
“Jagged Edge Communications has thoroughly enjoyed working with bobo&boo,” Kirsty said.
“The job is always made easier by having friendly clients with fabulous products, so thank you to Naomi for that!
“It has been really inspiring to see bobo&boo grow so quickly, and to know we were able to support that through the provision of our SEO copywriting and blogging services.
“We wish bobo&boo much success in business and beyond in the future!”
